It is said in the Ramayan that Rama built a great bridge when the Tsunami waters came in and separated India from Sri
Lanka. His wife Sita had been kidnapped and taken to Sri Lanka. Ram travelled with his army on the bridge and
fought the evil Raaven for the return of his wife, Sita.
Despite the links between history, religion and archeology, the Indian authorities have made plans for the destruction
of the bridge to make a canal to provide a shortcut for ships sailing around the south coast of India into China.
The project is not even viable, as it will take 200 years to break even the extortionate costs.
Worldwide support for the bridge is not just from Hindus, but those who know that the earliest civilisation known to
man, centuries before the Saraswati Indus settlements, is of International importance, not just of National commercial
concern.
